Can not load the loaded geotools configuration.xml,

gita anjali
Dear Group,
This is Anjali, I am very new to the open sources, but I have good experience with coding.
I need to work on 52north wps application for a project now. I have installed 52 north wps from https://github.com/52North/WPS, built the source using geotools, imported this into eclipse, and ran it on server, tested the getcapabilities, its handled perfectly.
NOw, the issue is, I want to run with R extension, when I load the geotools from command prompt using maven, it shows that all the backends are being successfully loaded. But the loaded war file isn't been taken when i start the process, that is the default 52nwps config is alone taken, where i can see jtsconvexhullalgorithm,EchoProcess,MultipleComplexInAndOutputsDummyTestClass being loaded alone. I learnt that these are default configuration parameters. So, I followed as per the instructions given in https://github.com/52North/WPS for changing the default configuration to non default configuration by describing the default wps_config loc to be accepted using commandline. BUt still I cannot load the geotools config file, instead the default configuration is only taken.
But I can manually change the wps_config_geotools to wps_config as given in one of the posts in the group, and mean while it works fine. But when I restart the server, I can just see the default parameters. How do I load the geotools configuration now?

Can you please provide where the problem is occurring. I have seen similar issues, but they seem unanswered.  Can anyone tell where is the mistake? Is anyone facing the similar issue or is it only my case?

Hello Anjali,

I am assumnig that you are using Eclipse J2EE and that you have imported the WPS project as Maven project.
If that is correct, just right click on the 52n-wps-webapp project and click "Properties". In the following dialog click on "Maven". Add with-geotools to the Active Maven Profiles textfield and click "OK". Now the Geotools and R backenends should work.
Btw., using Eclipse J2EE you don't have to build the WPS project to run it on the Server. The WPS will be built automatically before it is deployed.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Benjamin

Hello Anjali,

Please keep the geoprocessingservices list in cc, as others might be able to learn from our discussion.
It seems that I did not understand what you are trying to do.
If you want to run the WPS with activated the Geotools Profile using Eclipse Java EE, what I told you should work.
Otherwise please tell us exactly what you are doing, what you expect to happen and what happens instead.
It would also help to know which versions of Java, Eclipse and server software you are using.

Cheers,

Benjamin

Hi Anjali,

I still don't seem to get everything right, a few questions inline:

Am 26.10.2014 04:28, schrieb gita anjali:
Dear Benjamin,
Thanx for the response. I was littled occupied so couldn't check mails since 3 days.
Well, let me clear you everything how i did, step by step,
I downloaded https://github.com/52North/WPS, extracted to a folder, built my web archive externally without importing to eclipse, and deployed the web archieve in tomcat's web apps.
Now, started Eclipse, imported the existing maven project, built using geotools, and accessed the log in page.
When you say "built using geotools", do you mean that you right-click on the 52n-wps-webapp project/directory in Eclipse and then click on "Run as.." -> "Run on Server"?
Or do you use Maven install/package to build the WPS in Eclipse and then start the Tomcat manually?
Do you use Windows or Linux?

Cheers,

Benjamin

Everything seems fine so far.
My primary agenda is to use 52N wps with R backend. For this, I installed Rserve, tested using local net.
then accessed the 52n wps front page, but teh R repository isn't and sextante, GRASS and other geotools repositories.
When I manually replace the wps_config_geotools.xml file to the wps_config.xml (default one being accessed) , as seen in one of the forums posted in the community which dealt the similar issue, it works fine. But when I restart the server afresh, it goes back the default wps_config.xml file. Why is this happening. I even tried the non-default confg.
And I have web apps folder in external tomcat, and wtpwebapps in Eclipse. I have my wps.war in both the folders. But, my eclipse tomcat takes the local tomcat's destination folder so that shouldnt be a prob. Well, one more thing is, while setting the non default config, i have given the path to the config files in wtpwebaps, and this seems to be changed after a fresh restart, while the wps_config.xml lying under external tomcat remains unchanged. Hope you get my problem now.
Im using Tomcat-7
Jdk-1.7.0_51
Eclipse Kepler.
Maven is all perfectly set.
R-3.1.1
Rserve downloaded as a binary package. and done as per instructions given in the site

Re: Can not load the loaded geotools configuration.xml,

I initially installed maven install, and the web achieve created by maven was deployed into Tomcat, restarted Tomcat,
accessed the front page!!
Then, after facing the problem I mentioned in the first mail, that is not able to access my geotools configuration, instead the default configuration is loaded, I tried the non default configuration through command line.
After all these, I again tried,  importing the maven project built, into eclipse, and then I tried "Run as.." -> "Run on Server", and that showed the same result.
And recently, with your direction, I built using "geo-tools", that is, right-click on the 52n-wps-webapp project/directory in Eclipse but this made my eclipse shut down, and i can see work-spaces loading and some messages while the build was in progress but then nothing turned up and after restart everything was fresh again

Re: Can not load the loaded geotools configuration.xml,

BenjaminPross
I don't know what else I can tell you... If you change the Maven properties like I proposed and start the Tomcat out of Eclipse, the WPS will start with enabled GeoTools.
After you clicked "Run as.." -> "Run on Server" there will be a Eclipse browser window opened, right? If you click on "GetCapabilities request using HTTP GET" the WPS capabilities should be shown listing also GeoTools processes like the SimpleBufferAlgorithm. Can you verify that?

I did it Mr.Benjamin. I have 2 configuration files, one is wps_config.xml and the other being wps_config_geotools.xml, to which on a fresh restart the tomcat is changing the default config file (i.e wps_config) which doesn't contain any geo-tools and R dependencies. It has just got default basic ones, no GRASS, no Geotools, no Sextante.

Try it again using "with-geotools", like I was writing below. If you then click "Run as.." -> "Run on Server", the WPS should be built with the GeoTools and R dependencies. Note that you will have to activate the R repository in the wps_config before you can use it.

Hello Anjali,

I am assumnig that you are using Eclipse J2EE and that you have imported the
WPS project as Maven project.
If that is correct, just right click on the 52n-wps-webapp project and click
"Properties". In the following dialog click on "Maven". Add with-geotools to
the Active Maven Profiles textfield and click "OK". Now the Geotools and R
backenends should work.
Btw., using Eclipse J2EE you don't have to build the WPS project to run it
on the Server. The WPS will be built automatically before it is deployed.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Benjamin

Strange, with the default configuration there should be more processes:

EchoProcess
MultiReferenceInputAlgorithm
JTSConvexHullAlgorithm
MultiReferenceBinaryInputAlgorithm
MultipleComplexInAndOutputsDummyTestClass
LongRunningDummyTestClass
DummyTestClass

Did you modify the wps_config file(s)? Btw., which operating system are you using?

Hello Anjali,

The config files don't seem to differ from the original ones.
You might check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwuR6llF848
It shows how to start the WPS with activated GeoTools profile from Eclipse Kepler JEE.
Maybe you find something that differs from what you did.

Cheers,

Benjamin
